According to CNBC.com almost HALF (45%) of small businesses don’t have a website…

Is your business part of that 45%?

If that’s a yes, have you ever said one of the statements below?

  • Building a website is too expensive…
  • All that tech stuff is so confusing, I could never make a website…
  • My business relies on foot traffic, I don’t need a website…
  • I’ve been in business for 25 years, my customers know who I am, I don’t need a website…

Let’s debunk those myths one at a time…

Myth #1 - Building a website is expensive!

This used to be true, but not any longer. You can get a custom website built for less than $2,500. And if all you need is a boiler-plate website where you just change the logo and the words then you can get a custom website built for $1,000 or even less.

Now, you could go the DIY route and try to build one yourself to save even more money, but that leads us into the next myth…

Myth #2 - Building a website is difficult!

If you are trying to learn and use HTML and CSS to code your very first website then absolutely – building a website is VERY DIFFICULT!

But if you hire someone to build it for you, or you use a web design software like Wix, or Squarespace, building a website isn’t much more challenging than navigating your email inbox.

If you have ZERO experience with websites, then I would recommend you hire someone so you know everything is set up correctly, your website is mobile-friendly, and you have a contact who is an expert in case you need something fixed.

Myths #3 & 4 – I get customers offline, I don’t need a website…

No matter what type of business you’re running nowadays, you aren’t immune to the reach of the internet. Landscapers, hair salons, restaurants, dentists, (insert business here) – you name it, people are searching for it online.

Think of your business website as your modern day business card. Everything about your business – your contact info, your hours, your location, etc. – should all be readily accessible on your website. If it’s not, or you don’t have a website at all, that potential customer just became your competition’s customer. It’s that simple…
